Are You And Your Doctor On The Same Page With Your Paperwork?

When communicating with your doctor about your thoughts on how a zPod can support your child, it's important that you make sure the doctor is fully in the loop of your situation and why you believe the bed can be helpful to your child.

It is very important that everyone understand this. After your doctor completes the zPods Insurance Packet you need to triple check and make sure that what they wrote is exactly what you conveyed about your child.

We have witnessed denials for zPods as the literature in the zPods Insurance Packet did not align with the reasoning as to why the parents felt the zPod was medically necessary for their child. Therefore, as you go through the process you need to make sure you are communicating as well as you can to your doctor and/or therapist, so they understand.

We are not telling you how to tell your doctor or therapist to write a letter of medical necessity, you simply need to make sure within the document that the information is correct before submitting it to the durable medical equipment (DME) dealer and then your insurance provider.

Here are the recommended steps:

  1. Doctor and/or therapist complete the zPods Insurance Packet.

  2. Have them send it to the DME dealer.

  3. Call the DME Dealer and have a discussion and make sure they have all the information written correctly.

  4. If it adequately represents the details of your child's situation then tell the DME dealer to proceed forward.

For example, if your child does not elope and your doctor accidentally misinterpreted your feedback that your child does elope, then there is an error by miscommunication.

We realize that we are making this an added step for you, and we know everyone can be physically and emotionally tired, but this is important to confirm this.

Communication is key during this process and making sure that the doctor, therapist (if your child has one), the durable medical equipment dealer, and your provider all completely understand why a zPod could be necessary for your child. And, if you or you doctor ever get stuck or confused about the insurance packet, always feel free to reach out to us:
